Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public to Comment

August 18, 2025

A team of Accessors from The International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) will arrive on September 14, 2025 to examine all aspects of The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department’s policy and procedures, management, operation, and support services, Chief of Police Brent Tourangeau, announced today.

Verification by the team that The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department meets IACLEA’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation – a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence, he said.

University employees, agency employees and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 469-510-8115 on September 15, 2025, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the assessment team.

Telephone comments must address the department’s ability to comply with IACLEA’s standards. The IACLEA Accreditation Standards Manuel is available on the IACLEA website (www.iaclea.org).

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may email them to jmurphy@iaclea.org.

The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department has to comply with 227 standards in order to achieve accredited status, said Chief Tourangeau.

The Accreditation Manager for The University of Texas at Dallas Police Department is Sergeant Stacey Rotunno and she said the assessment team is composed of experienced campus law enforcement professionals from out-of-state. The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals, and inspect facilities where compliance can be witnessed. The Assessors are Alison Jean, Accreditation Manager and Clery Compliance Officer, University of New Hampshire Police, Team Leader, and Nina Jamsen, Accreditation Manager (retired), UC San Diego Police Department.

Once the Assessors complete their review of the department, they will report back to IACLEA, which will then decide if the department is to be granted accredited status, Accreditation Manager Sergeant Rotunno said.

Accreditation is for four (4) years, during which the department must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those standards under which it initially accredited.
